East facing plots, North facing plots and North-East facing plots are generally considered favourable because they receive good sunlight and balanced energy flow. However, South or West facing plots can also be suitable when the entrance, layout and internal planning follow proper Vastu principles.
The ideal gate position depends on the plot’s facing direction. For example, there’s a difference between vastu for main gate of north facing plot and main gate of south facing plot.
In many cases, North-East, East or North zones are considered beneficial for the main gate because they allow positive energy to enter the plot.
House planning in Vastu varies for plots facing in different directions like North, North West, West, South West, South, South East and East.
Room placement, entrance location, open spaces and activity zones are planned differently to maintain natural balance and energy flow. For example, a North facing plot house plan for vastu would be completely different from a dakshin mukhi plot or North West corner extended plot vastu.
Square and rectangular plot vastu are considered the most balanced in vastu.
Irregular shapes such as triangle-shaped plot vastu, trapezium-shaped plot vastu, diagonal plot vastu, skewed plot vastu, parallelogram plot vastu, pentagon/panchmukhi plot vastu or L-shaped plot vastu may require careful planning or specific remedies to maintain energy balance.
As per vastu, corner plots, three side road plots or two side road plots can be favourable if the road directions are supportive. However, plots facing a direct T-point or T-junction should be carefully evaluated and may not be suitable.
Irregular plots with extensions or cuts in certain directions may affect the energy balance of the land. Remedies often involve boundary adjustments, landscaping, compound walls or planning corrections during construction.
A well-proportioned rectangular plot is usually preferred. The land should ideally slope slightly toward the North or East, allowing natural light, drainage and positive energy flow.
A Gomukhi or Gaumukhi plot is narrower at the entrance and wider at the back. It’s often considered suitable for residential use. A Shermukhi or Singhmukhi plot is wider at the front and may be more suitable for commercial purposes.
